Tonka is a male who came to us from a friend after being acquired from a bad situation. He originally lived here in AZ but was sent to another breeder up in Oregon. This breeder is/was unfortunately a known animal abuser and after being found breaking her probation and owning animals she sold him to a friend. My friend immediately sent him down to me. He was skin and bones, full of worms and his tail was dyed yellow from sitting in his urine. He has since gained his weight back and is healthy and happy.
We are now sole owners of Tonka. He is a taller boy, about 20" at the withers. He is a rather flashy dog with a great personality. Tonka has low drive and is safe around just about every animal. He is the sweetest boy who loves everyone. He throws great pups and we have appreciated the time we have owned him.
Tonka was rated with mild DJD in his left elbow due to a slight fuzziness on his x-ray. Our vet and us do not feel it is accurate and the plan is to have it re-evaluated by a specialist. Tonka never ever shows any kind of sign of anything wrong with that elbow. In fact, he suffered an injury to his right leg where he was using his left leg more than usual and still never showed any sign of pain in it despite increased weight and use of it. He also has great movement and is very active. He has had several pups who have had OFA prelims done as well and every single one has had been rated as Normal Elbows. All of this points to a possible bone spur, unrelated to genetic issues in the elbow. We are more than happy to provide the images on his elbow x-rays.
